Public consultation on infrastructure and development for Inshes and Raigmore area of Inverness

The Highland Council is to consult on future land use opportunities and local infrastructure improvements at Inshes and Raigmore in a shared consultation with Transport Scotland that will shape the future development of this key area of Inverness.
Feedback from the consultation will help to create an Inshes and Raigmore Development Brief that will guide future development and look in detail at the challenges and opportunities in this busy part of the city.
Chairman of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure committee, Councillor Thomas Prag said: “We recognise the links in this area between local and trunk roads which is why it makes sense in carrying out a joint consultation on transport issues with Transport Scotland and to create an Inshes and Raigmore Development brief as the best way to ensure we end up with a co-ordinated solution to a critical development and transport corridor.
“This is an extraordinary important area of the city with its proximity and links to Raigmore Hospital , the campus, Beechwood, Lifescan, the Police headquarters, local retail outlets and businesses as well as people’s homes. I hope as many people as possible come along to the public exhibitions and give their feedback on both land use issues and how we can ensure the needs of all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists can be best met.”
The consultation will begin on 30 May with a public exhibition in Inshes Church running from 12 noon to 7pm. People coming along will be able to access maps and see draft layouts of proposals including alternative junction layouts for the Inshes Roundabout. A second public exhibition will take place in the Old High Church Hall on Academy Street on Tuesday 3 June from 12 noon to 7pm.
Information will also be on the Council’s website and anyone wishing to take part in the consultation has until 31 July to submit their comments.

Council calls for meaningful engagement from Home Office Over 300 Asylum Seekers Being Sent to Inverness
