Highland Council pays respect to lives lost in London

A minutes silence was held today at 11am in all Highland Council premises in tribute to the victims of the London terrorist attack.
At the Council's headquarters on Glenurquhart Road in Inverness, staff joined the Members to observe the silence.
The Leader of the Council, Cllr Margaret Davidson said: "Thank you for gathering this morning as we take a moment to remember those affected by the horrific events that occurred in London on Saturday evening.
"It is utterly shocking to be standing here again so soon after the attack in Manchester and to have witnessed another terrorist attack with innocent lives being lost.
“Our hearts go out to those families who have lost loved ones and to those who have suffered such terrible injuries as a result of this brutal attack.
“This was an utterly horrific and deeply shocking act of evil and we know that our communities across the Highlands are united in standing with the people of London at this time.
“We are conscious that the impact of this terrorism has been brought home to us with the funeral service of Eilidh MacLeod yesterday on her island home of Barra.
“It is often in times of great tragedy that the true and decent character of people shines through and this has been clearly demonstrated in so many ways by the citizens of London.
“It is humbling to hear the many stories of those who courageously risked their own lives to protect and save lives in the face of such evil."
