New agreement ensures the rights of UK residents to access emergency and medically necessary care when travelling in the EU will continue.   UK's new Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) launched as part of UK / EU deal Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) will gradually replace existing European Health Insurance Cards (EHIC) UK residents will now be able to apply for a UK Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), the government announced on 11th January 2021.

United Arab Emirates Designated For Public Health Quarantine
Travellers returning to self-isolate on arrival in Scotland.   Following the move to require travellers Dubai from to quarantine on arrival, Ministers have agreed on the basis of advice today from the Joint Biosecurity Centre to remove the United Arab Emirates in its entirety from the international travel exemptions list.

Scottish Business Optimism Plunged Pre-lockdown
Scottish business confidence crashed in the final days of 2020, according to research from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).   The small business campaign group says that their findings underline the need for governments in Edinburgh and London to provide sufficient second-wave coronavirus support to independent and local firms, as well as people who work for themselves.

England has gone into a tough lockdown to halt spiralling COVID-19 hospitalisations and relieve pressure on its health system.  The prime minister, Boris Johnson, has said the new lockdown will last at least seven weeks, but it's safe to assume that, with many hospitals near capacity, it will stay in place as long as is needed to suppress the threat of the NHS being overwhelmed.

Dubai Designated For Public Health Quarantine
Travellers returning from Dubai must quarantine on arrival in Scotland for 10 days from 4am on Monday (11 January).  In addition, passengers who have travelled to Scotland from Dubai since 3 January are also being asked to isolate for 10 days, from the date they arrived back in the country.
