Innovation Projects Underway To Benefit Food And Drink Sector
Two innovation projects are underway in the Highlands and Islands to develop new ways to support the growth of the food and drink sector. Angus based farming solutions company SoilEssentials Ltd is researching and developing ways to tackle the spread of potato cyst nematode (PCN), one of the most serious threats to Scotland's potato growing industry.

Council Tax Reduction Scheme Supports Almost 500,000 Scots
Scotland's Chief Statistician today released the latest Council Tax Reduction (CTR) statistics. In June 2020, Scotland’s CTR scheme supported 497,960 households and the total weekly income forgone by local authorities was £7.334 million.9/9/2020
UK Internal Market Bill - Scottish Government Consent Impossible
The Scottish Government has said it is impossible to recommend the Scottish Parliament gives consent to the UK Government's Internal Market bill. The bill, which will be published by the UK Government tomorrow, engages the Sewel Convention, and therefore the UK's constitutional rules require the consent of Holyrood.9/9/2020

The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has today launched a year-long partnership aimed at inspiring and supporting young people in the nuclear industry. Chief Executive David Peattie announced the NDA's partnership with the Nuclear Institute's Young Generation Network (YGN) today at a special webinar for young professionals.

Councillors to debate rejection of Boundary Commission's proposed electoral changes for 2022
Highland Council members will debate rejecting electoral arrangement proposals put forward by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland at a meeting of The Highland Council later this week. The Boundary Commission wrote to the Council's Chief Executive earlier this year with proposals for new electoral boundaries from 2022.

Drinking Water Quality In Scotland 2019 - Private Water Supplies
n 2019, a total of 48,384 tests were taken from regulated private water supplies, which are those supplying more than 50 people or a commercial activity. 89.8 per cent of tests met the required standard, but 14.5% of these supplies had a sample that contained E.coli, which indicates faecal contamination and potentially causes serious illness.8/9/2020
