Young people looking to enter the workforce will benefit from £70 million of investment from the Scottish Government. The Young Person's Guarantee aims to protect people from the economic impact of COVID-19 by offering every 16-24 year old in Scotland the opportunity of a job, apprenticeship, further or higher education, training programme or volunteering.

Prospect union has served formal notice of strike action by air traffic controllers at HIAL airports. The strike action will be effective from 00.01 on 29 July for 24 hours.
DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (July, 27th) sold 21 prime cattle. Prime bullocks (9) averaged 240.3p (+2.7p) and sold to 247.0p per kg and £1,654.10 gross.

The Met Office has issued a warn for potential power outages and flash flooding affecting the Highlands over the next few days so the message from Highland Council is "be prepared". The Met Office yellow warning for rain and thunderstorms covers the whole Highlands and is in place from today until Thursday 29 July.

Funding of £1.8 million will help Scottish seafood businesses recover from the severe economic impacts of Brexit and Covid-19. The funding, managed by trade marketing body Seafood Scotland, will support seafood businesses to access new markets within the UK and abroad, including campaigns in Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East.

Changes are being made to self-isolation rules for close contacts of COVID cases to allow essential staff in critical roles to return to work to maintain lifeline services and critical national infrastructure. It will be possible to apply to exempt those who work in critical roles where staff shortages are in danger of putting essential services, such as health and social care, transport and the provision of food supplies at risk.

Scotland makes international pledge to help deliver the Paris Agreement With 100 days until COP26 comes to Glasgow, Scotland has set out how it will help meet the global goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change. The indicative Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) published today (23 July) outlines Scotland's contribution to preventing warming of more than 1.5 degrees.
