From the Office of Budget Responsibility today 13 March 2019. Stronger income tax receipts and lower debt interest payments have delivered the Chancellor a modest fiscal windfall.

How have Scotland's revenues from income tax been performing since income tax powers were transferred to the Scottish Parliament in April 2017? This is clearly an important question to ask. The Scottish budget in any year is determined in part by the rate of growth of Scottish income tax revenues per capita since 2016/17 compared to the growth of equivalent income tax revenues per capita in the rest of the UK (rUK).

There were 12,580 births and 14,484 deaths registered in Scotland between 1 October and 31 December 2018, according to provisional figures released today by National Records of Scotland. Compared to the quarter four average for the last five years, births have fallen by 5.9 per cent and deaths have risen by 0.6 cent.

DEME Offshore, formerly GeoSea, has announced the selection of Tier One suppliers for its Moray East offshore windfarm foundation contract, many of which are based in the UK. The 950 MW wind farm is being developed by Moray Offshore Windfarm East Ltd (MOWEL) which is a joint venture company owned by Diamond Green Limited (33.4%), EDPR (33.3 %), ENGIE (23.3%) and CTG (10%).The project was initiated following the award of a £57.50/MWh Contract for Difference (CfD) by the UK Government in 2017.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has fined The Carphone Warehouse £29,107,600 for failings that led to the mis-selling of 'Geek Squad', a mobile phone insurance and technical support product. This follows an FCA investigation which stemmed from whistleblowing reports.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has published two pieces of research looking at UK consumer attitudes to cryptoassets, such as Bitcoin or Ether. The research includes qualitative interviews with UK consumers and a national survey.
The Highland Council is today (12 March 2019) launching a 12 week consultation giving the community until 5 June 2019 to comment on the proposed contents of the Common Good Fund Asset Register. Section 102 Community Empowerment (Scotland) 2015 states that before establishing a Common Good Asset Register the Council must first conduct a public consultation on a list of property (buildings, land, artwork, regalia and funds) it is proposing to include.

March 2019 - Recent analysis of government data* by vehicle finance provider Moneybarn, reveals the South East is the biker capital of Great Britain, with the area currently home to 17% of the UK's licensed motorbikes.
