Work on Inverness city cycle route completed one week early
The construction works to provide a safe cycle route from the Inverness Campus at Beechwood to Inverness city centre are now complete. The completed route forms part of the link from the new Inverness Campus and the recently constructed golden bridge over the A9 in the east, through Raigmore housing estate to Millburn Road, where it continues to the city centre.8/11/2014

Extra blue bin recycling could save £70k
The addition of new materials to the blue bin will be introduced next year and could save around £70,000. A report on the first phase of a waste compositional analysis study, which was carried out on household kerbside collections in June 2014 in the Inner Moray Firth area, has been considered by the Community Services Committee.6/11/2014

Week Comencing 3 November 2014 Energy & Business services: SSE has this week agreed to sell part of its stake in the Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Ltd development to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). SSE will now own 50% of BOWL, with CIP owning 25% and Repsol continuing to own the remaining 25%.6/11/2014

NEW PARTNER FOR BEATRICE OFFSHORE WIND FARM LTD (BOWL)
SSE has today agreed to sell a portion of its shareholding in the Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm to fund management company Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The terms of the agreement reflect the costs of developing the project to its current stage.

Council seeks public opinion on development planning in Caithness and Sutherland
A major public consultation is now underway to help prepare a new 20 year Local Development Plan for the Caithness and Sutherland area, to be known as CaSPlan. The Main Issues Report was published on 30 October 2014 and it is the first formal stage of preparing the new CaSPlan.5/11/2014

New survey reveals 93% of Highland residents are happy with community life and services in the Highlands
A report on the latest results from a survey of the Citizen's Panel shows generally positive trends and improving satisfaction with most services in the Highlands. 93% say they rate quality of community life in the neighbourhood they live in as very or fairly good and almost 97% rate their locality as very or fairly safe.4/11/2014

MSP backs Highland Councillors' call for second ETV
Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, David Stewart, has backed the call by Highland Councillors to have a second Emergency Towing Vessel (ETV) reinstated to cover north and west coast waters. The call comes on the back of the recent incident whereby a boat carrying nuclear waste through north waters caught fire and was left drifting in the north sea, resulting in the Beatrice oil platform being evacuated as a precaution.3/11/2014

UK Business Confidence Cools
The US GDP estimate for the third quarter of 2014 showed that the economy grew 3.5% on an annualised quarter-on-quarter basis. The figure was above consensus expectations of 3.0% and suggests a continued economic recovery, putting the US on track for 2.2% growth over 2014.3/11/2014
