Decarbonising Britain's transport will be challenging as it accounts for over a third of all UK emissions.  But doing so effectively could save households £22 billion (£650 per household on average, in current prices) in 2035, according to new analysis from the Resolution Foundation published today (Thursday).

DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd, (October 16th) sold 476 store cattle and 138 OTM cattle Bullocks (278) averaged 304.3p per kg and sold to 475.5p per kg for a 265kg Limousin cross from Shop Farm, Scotscalder and £1,880 gross for a 580kg Limousin cross from Lower Whitebog, Fortrose.   Heifers (183) averaged 287.6p per kg and sold to 428.6p per kg for a Limousin cross from Shop Farm, Scotscalder and £2,000 gross for a 640kg Limousin from Lower Whitebog, Fortrose.

Government Launches British Infrastructure Taskforce
Private finance experts met the Chancellor at No11 Downing Street today to boost investment in infrastructure and drive growth nationwide.   Rachel Reeves convened the inaugural meeting of the British Infrastructure Taskforce as part of a new approach that involves government working with business to design policy that will unlock private investment, including by building business confidence in UK infrastructure investments.

Badly Timed Inflation Fall Will Hit Millions Of Low-income Families Next Spring
CPI inflation fell to 1.7 per cent in September, down from 2.2 in August, and ahead of a likely jump in October.  This otherwise welcome temporary dip is bad timing for millions of low-to-middle income families, as the lower September figure will be used to uprate working-age benefits next Spring, the Resolution Foundation said on Wednesday16 October 2024.

Jobs Market Weakness Suggests Brief Era Of Healthy Pay Growth Could End Soon
The continued softening of the jobs market - with quarter-on-quarter growth in payrolled employment falling for the first time since January 2021 – suggests that the UK's brief era of healthy real terms pay growth could end soon, the Resolution Foundation said this week.   While ongoing data quality issues mean little can be taken from the headline employment, unemployment and inactivity trends, other data points to a softening of the jobs market.

The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 2.6% in the 12 months to September 2024, down from 3.1% in August.   On a monthly basis, CPIH rose by 0.1% in September 2024, down from 0.5% in September 2023.
