Staff At 19 UK Universities Strike On Several Days Over Pay - 24 November First Day
Staff employed by 19 higher education institutions have commenced strike action over pay this week, starting with Glasgow Caledonian University, where employees began striking yesterday (21 November) and have continued today.   Administrators, cleaners, library, security and catering workers, some of the lowest paid in the university sector, are among those taking part.

More Than 1 In 4 Scottish Employers Have Seen An Increase In Staff Sickness
Workplace expert, Acas, commissioned YouGov to ask employers in September if they had seen any changes to the number of employees being off sick compared to 12 months ago.   The poll found that for Scotland: 29% of employers had seen an increase in sickness absence 12% had seen a decrease.

Shareholders are trousering large dividends while those who do the graft are struggling, says GMB Union Almost 400 workers delivering food to KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut and Wagamama will strike over a real terms pay cut.   A majority of 76 per cent of those who voted were in favour of industrial action.

Teacher Strikes Go Ahead In Scotland After 6.85% Pay Offer Rejected
Industrial action by the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS) and the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes Scotland (AHDS) over pay will see almost all primary and secondary schools close on 24 November.   Talks to avert the strikes failed to come up with an improved pay deal.
