Caithness Hotel Group Facing Energy Bill Of £130,000 Each Year
The sum represents a 70% shift and comes as The Caithness Collection - which includes the Norseman Hotel in Wick, Thurso's Pentland Hotel and the Castletown Hotel - reaches the end of a 24-month deal next week. Owner Andrew Mackay says the best quote on offer will take the annual cost to almost £130,000.23/9/2020

One of the north Highlands' most iconic hotels is celebrating 65 years as an independent family business this September. Mackays Hotel on Union Street in Wick has been a leading accommodation provider and a cornerstone of local community life in Caithness for over six decades since being purchased by the first family member in 1955, Murray Lamont's maternal grandmother.

Quality show forward at Caithness Christmas show and sale
A Charolais cross bullock from Michael Shearer, Lythmore, Westfield, Thurso, took the prime cattle championship at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' annual Christmas show and sale held at Caithness Livestock Centre. Tapped out by judge Bill Cameron, Burnside of Edingight, Grange, was a 20-month-old, home-bred bullock weighing 621kg.

Public convenience partnership with Portland Hotel provides Comfort Scheme addition on NC500
In a boost for the local Caithness area a new Comfort Scheme has started with immediate effect at The Portland Hotel in Lybster in partnership with The Highland Council. Recently renovated and launched under new ownership in summer of 2018 The Portland Hotel, Lybster is ideally situated on A99 Wick to Latheron main road, which forms part of the busy NC500 tourist route.

The Highland Council lead the charge for resource efficiency in business
The Highland Council is to take a lead role in helping businesses save money, be more competitive and reduce their environmental impact by using resources more efficiently, by backing the national Resource Efficiency Pledge scheme. The Resource Efficiency Pledge is a new scheme from Resource Efficient Scotland, a programme of Zero Waste Scotland which works with businesses to help them reduce both their running costs and carbon emissions.

Mackays Hotel Officially Recognised as �Staymakers� by Olympic Training Scheme
Inspired by the success of the London 2012 Olympics� Gamesmakers, Mackays Hotel in Wick has become the latest organisation in the UK to gain national recognition for its dedication to excellent customer service, joining an elite segment of hospitality businesses that have achieved the status. The family run hotel received news this week that it is the first hotel in Caithness & Sutherland to be awarded WorldHost Recognised Business status, a training programme that was used to train the tens of thousands of staff and volunteers for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and nearly one million people worldwide, in exceptional customer service.

Car hire available over the weekends In Wick
Mackays Hotel is delighted to announce in collaboration with Richards Garage car hire vehicles will be available from the hotel outwith normal working hours, including Saturday and Sunday. Murray Lamont, of Mackays Hotel, commented that he felt there was a gap in the market and particularly on a Sunday when there was no public transport to John O'Groats.25/3/2012
