HIE and Orkney Islands Council have approved a funding package totalling £2.8m towards the second phase of development at Orkney Research and Innovation Campus (ORIC). The announcement was made on Friday 23 September 2022 as part of the official opening of the first phase of ORIC, carried out by Fred Olsen.
The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and the National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) have signed a three-year collaborative research agreement - the first of its kind between the nuclear and oil and gas decommissioning sectors. The unique strategic partnership, supporting research with a potential value of up to £900,000, will see the NDA work with researchers from the University of Aberdeen in areas of mutual interest to both the nuclear and oil and gas sectors.

Nuclear Waste Services has awarded a four-year framework contract worth up to £41 million to three suppliers for the treatment and conditioning of radioactive waste.
