Physical Proof Of Status Should Be Offered To Eu Citizens
The governments of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are calling on the UK Government to offer EU citizens physical proof of their settled or pre-settled status.   Currently, EU citizens who have secured settled or pre-settled status have no physical documentation to prove that they have the right to reside in the UK and this has been causing problems for citizens' employment and access to services.  
HIE Publishes Results Of Latest Business Panel Survey
This is according to the findings of the latest business panel survey undertaken by Ipsos MORI for Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) in October.   More than a thousand businesses in the region were contacted for their views on topics such as financial health, priorities and concerns.

Views sought on proposed legal duties for public bodies.   Health and social care services, children's services, police and other public bodies will have a legal duty to ‘ask and act’ to prevent homelessness under Scottish Government proposals.

HMRC Late Payment Interest Rates To Be Revised After Bank Of England Increases Base Rate
HMRC interest rates for late payments will be revised following the Bank of England interest rate rise to 0.25%.   The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee voted on 16 December 2021 to increase the Bank of England base rate to 0.25% from 0.1%.

The Highland Council and Eden Court's Engagement Team have worked together to stream a live performance of Festive Letter, a brand-new show for primary schools, to over 500 classrooms across Highland.   Cllr John Finlayson, Education Chair said: "I am delighted that we have funded and supported this fantastic opportunity to provide a very special festive treat to our children and young people in over 500 classrooms across Highland.

Advice On Visiting Care Homes And Hospitals
Visits to people in hospital and care homes to continue with additional measures of protection.   Visitors to hospitals and adult care homes are being asked to take an LFD test before every visit under new guidelines Adult care homes and hospitals should continue to support visits for residents and patients, however new recommendations set out that visits should be in line with the rules for the general public brought in to control the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
