Equally safe at work
Highland council members today (9 December 2019) wholeheartedly gave their support to a report to Council on tackling gender-based violence. Highland Council has been working closely with trade union colleagues and Close the Gap to create a zero-tolerance culture towards gender-based violence.9/12/2019

Voters in the three Highland constituencies for the UK Parliamentary general election of: Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross; Ross, Skye and Lochaber; and Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey are being reminded by Returning Officer Donna Manson that their vote matters. On Thursday 12 December voting begins with all Highland polling stations opening their doors at 7am and remaining open for voters until 10pm.6/12/2019
Chair appointed to NHS Highland Board
The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport, Jeane Freeman, today announced the appointment of the new Chair of Highland NHS Board. Professor Boyd Robertson, who has served as Interim Chair of the NHS Highland Board since February this year, will take up the post from 1st December 2019.

Proposed increase in foster carer payments to be considered at council
Members will be asked to approve a proposal to substantially increase the payment to foster carers at the meeting of Highland Council on Monday 9 December 2019. New guidance for parents and carers who wish to apply for deferred or early entry to Highland schools for their children has been approved (subject to some additional conditions agreed) by Members of The Highland Council's Care, Learning and Housing Committee. Quality show forward at Caithness Christmas show and sale
A Charolais cross bullock from Michael Shearer, Lythmore, Westfield, Thurso, took the prime cattle championship at Aberdeen and Northern Marts' annual Christmas show and sale held at Caithness Livestock Centre. Tapped out by judge Bill Cameron, Burnside of Edingight, Grange, was a 20-month-old, home-bred bullock weighing 621kg.

Public views sought for taxi fare review in Highland
The public is being asked for its views on proposals by The Highland Council to review the maximum level of charges for the hire of taxis or private hire cars fitted with taxi meters operating under licence of The Highland Council. The Council has a statutory duty in terms of Section 17 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 to review its scales for the fares and other taxi related charges every 18 months.

Towheads/large Structures Travelling Through Wick
To whom it may concern: Subsea 7 will be moving three towheads for the Equinor Snorre Project from Wick Harbour to Wester Site from Monday 2nd December. It is planned that the towheads will travel along the route through town (as in the photograph below) over three days (one per day) and we hope to complete the operation by Wednesday the 4th of December.
