Accountant in Bankruptcy Debt Arrangement Scheme
Figures released today show that Scottish personal insolvencies have fallen in the second quarter of 2012-13.  The Scottish Government's debt management tool, the Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS), continues to be a viable option for Scots struggling with debt as numbers for the Scheme have increased by nearly 30 per cent from the same period of last year.

EU Fish Fund Framework
Scotland's fishermen and fishing communities will benefit from the new European Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF).   The EMFF will deliver help for both inshore and offshore fleets and the aquaculture sector to adapt to new circumstances, expand and create new jobs and promote fisheries conservation.

Feedback on Caithness General Hospital inspection welcomed.   NHS Highland has welcomed the publication of the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate (HEI) report of the unannounced inspection visit to Caithness General Hospital, Wick, which took place on 3rd and 4th September.

16 and 17 year-olds To vote in Independence Referendum
All 16 and 17 year-olds will be able to have Referendum vote.   The Scottish Parliament will be asked to ensure that all 16 and 17 year-olds have the right to vote in the referendum for an independent Scotland, First Minister Alex Salmond announced today.

The first stage of the £24.75 million River Ness Flood Alleviation Scheme, Inverness, which will protect approximately 800 homes and 200 businesses in the city centre, starts on Monday 29 October.   Work will involve the diversion of gas, water, electricity and telecommunication services required to accommodate the first phase of the construction of folld defences on both sides of the river between the Ness Bridge and Friars Bridge.  
Entrepreneurs Fund To Give Scotland The EDGE
£1 million investment to encourage and support dynamic growth entrepreneurs Finance Secretary John Swinney will today (Friday, October 19) announce the creation of a £1million Scottish entrepreneurs fund called EDGE - Encouraging Dynamic Growth Entrepreneurs - which will help accelerate innovative business ideas.   The fund will invest up to £50,000 in entrepreneurial businesses to stimulate economic growth.

New Preventative Services For Highland's Elderly
The Highland Council has published proposals, which will be considered on Thursday (25 October), to fulfil one of the key commitments in its programme - to invest an additional £1million in new preventative services for Highland's elderly.   Preventative services involve early intervention, to promote the long-term physical, social, and emotional well-being of people and communities.

Student Accommodation Will Begin Huge Inverness Regeneration
Inverness is set to see the first major regeneration in the City Centre for a number of years following the granting of planning permission by The Highland Council for an 8-storey-high building for student accommodation.   This £6m development is the first phase of a £30m re-generation project within the Rose Street and Farraline Park areas of Inverness City Centre.  
Police Want Public To Complete Survey
Members of the public encouraged to complete community consultation survey.   Police and partners are today sending out ten thousand community consultation surveys to households across the Highlands and Islands to gauge the priorities of the public prior to the introduction of the Police Service of Scotland early next year.
