Highland votes Remain in EU referendum

Michelle Morris, Senior Depute Counting Officer for Highland has declared the results of the European Union Referendum 2016 count in Highland.
Highland voters have voted to Remain in the European Union.
· The total number of ballot papers counted was 125,728
· The total number of votes cast in favour of Remain a member of the European Union was 70,308
· The total number of votes cast in favour of Leave the European Union was 55,349
· The number of ballot papers rejected was as follows:
o No official mark 0
o Voting for both answers to the question asked 27
o Writing or mark by which the voter could be identified 2
o Unmarked or void for uncertainty 42
o Total rejected papers 71.
At 6.00am today it looks as if UK will leave the EU.
Leave 52% Remain 48%
Scotland and Northern Ireland votes to Remain - England votes to Leave.
SNP may seek another referendum on Scottish Independence.
