DINGWALL, Dingwall & Highland Marts Ltd., (October, 19th) sold 131 OTM cattle. OTM prime cows (44) averaged 145.5p and sold to 174.3p per kg for a 720kg Limousin cross from Fornighty Farm, Nairn, and �1,455 gross for a 915kg Charolais from Seafield, Portmahomack.
Following a period of statutory consultation, The Highland Council is recommending the replacement of Wick's four primary schools with two new purpose built facilities. A report to be considered by the Education Culture and Sport Committee on Thursday 10 November will recommend the Council spends almost �20 million on two new community schools - one to the north of the River Wick and one to the south.

Northern Constabulary are advising retailers to be on their guard after a shop in Golspie which uses the "UKASH" pre-payment collection network (worked over a phone line) was the victim of a fraud. A telephone caller to the shop line purported to be a friend of the owner and befriended / reassured the staff member.

However, Trading Standards officers at The Highland Council, after being made aware of the existence of what appears to be misleading marketing practices by some solar panel suppliers, are offering a word of caution to householders and advising them to do their homework thoroughly before signing any deal.

Local Timber Manufacturer Confirmed for Natural Retreats John O'Groats Site Following the start of work in September to rejuvenate John O'Groats as a premium tourist destination, work continues on the ambitious project to redevelop the historic hotel and adjacent land. As part of the project to completely transform and rejuvenate the area, a �1 million building contract has been awarded to local timber frame manufacturer Norscot Joinery Ltd from Wick.
