PDA in Digital Imaging - FREE Course At Wick
As reported in July this year, The North Highland College (NHC) and The Wick Society formed a partnership to digitise the Johnson Collection, owned by the Wick Society. The Johnson collection is an invaluable historical photographic archive in excess of 50,000 glass-plate negatives taken by successive generations of the Johnson family between 1863 and 1976 capturing the social and industrial history of Caithness, in particular the impact of the herring fishing industry.20/7/2009
Highland Independent Museums Meet National Standards
Months of hard work have paid off for seven Highland independent museums. Dunbeath Heritage Centre, Timespan (Helmsdale), Groam House Museum (Rosemarkie), Ullapool Museum, Grantown Museum, Gairloch Heritage Museum and the Museum of the Isles on Skye have all achieved museum accreditation, meeting the set of national standards for UK museums.14/7/2009

The Caithness Broch Centre opens to the public on Saturday 25 July with a day of activities and talks. The centre, based in Auckengill Old School, takes over where the Northlands Viking Centre left off some three years ago.1/2/2009

The History Of Caithness Comes Alive At Thurso Town Hall

Old Pulteney Prohibition Ball raises over £5260 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution
Last Friday (30 May 2008) saw the annual Old Pulteney Prohibition Ball being held at the Pulteney Distillery in Wick. Beating last year's record intake, an astonishing £5265 were raised and donated to Wick's RNLI Station.28/4/2008

Town Hall Refurbishment in Full Flow
The building enabling work for Caithness Horizons has begun, with the contract for the first phase of work being awarded by Highland Council to local firm MM Miller (Wick) Ltd. Caithness Horizons has held its first annual general meeting and is delighted to announce that directors Paul Cariss, the company's chairman, and Tina Wrighton of UKAEA have both been co-opted back onto the board.19/2/2006
