Pulteney Distillery Announces Its 2008 "Old Pulteney Prohibition Ball"
28th April 2008
Old Pulteney Single Malt Whisky is delighted to announce details of this year's charity ball, which will take place on Friday 30 May at Pulteney Distillery in Wick - the ball, which is held to mark the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition in Wick, is the second to take place since the prestigious annual event kicked off last year. Tickets are on sale now and demand is expected to be high.
The Old Pulteney Prohibition Ball is fast becoming one of the local community's most anticipated events and will be hosted by Tom Morton, an acclaimed Scottish writer, broadcaster, musician comedian and whisky connoisseur. Revellers will be able to enjoy great live music by local band KW1, indulge in an excellent three course menu, sip on delicious drams of whisky and jig on the dancefloor until the small hours of the morning.
The celebrations will take place in a luxury marquee in the distillery's courtyard, which has been specially erected for the occasion, and all monies taken from ticket sales will go directly to the Wick station of the RNLI - one of UK's most vital and dedicated charitable institutions, whose members save numerous lives at sea year after year.
The evening's programme will also include the presentation of the Old Pulteney Maritime Achievement Award, created to recognise individuals who have contributed greatly to each area, and which is judged by a local panel that includes the RNLI's Head of Operations Colin Richards; the Chairman of the Harbour Board, Willie Watt and Old Pulteney Distillery Manager, Malcolm Waring.
Says Malcolm Waring: "Our first event last year was really successful and a complete sell-out- it brought the community together, raised more than £4,500 and was brilliant fun, so we decided to do it again. We're going to top 2007 with an even bigger and better ball and from the enquiries that we've had so far, I expect that tickets will sell out fast."
