Northern Constabulary Achieves Highest Ever Detection Rate
The first meeting of the new Northern Joint Police Board members heard today that Northern Constabulary achieved the highest ever detection rate by the Force last year and remains one of the highest performing Forces in the UK. The detection rate stood at 67% (class 1 to 5) by the end of an extremely busy year from April 2011-12 and 4% up on the previous year.28/5/2012
Caithness & North Sutherland Fund Awards over �100k!
The Caithness & North Sutherland Fund recently awarded its 2nd round of grants for 2012 to community projects totalling �101,342. Six groups in Caithness and two groups in the North Sutherland area have been awarded funding for projects that help to improve the attractiveness of their area as a place to live, work and invest.

HomeStart have been at the Community Education Office since Home-Start Caithness was 'born' 13 years ago, so 2nd May will be a mixed day - one of sadness at leaving to Community Education Office, but one of happiness going somewhere fresh and new.

Regeneration Partnership Latest Update
Weekly update from CNSRP - week commencing 9th April Energy: Scottish Government has confirmed that the Enterprise Area at Scrabster will be able to offer potential investor companies rates relief of up to 100% (up to �275,000 per business) as part of the incentive to locate at the site, which is on land above the harbour. The Enterprise Area designation, which lasts for 5 years, came into force last week for 14 sites around Scotland.6/4/2012
57,000 Tonnes Of Hazardous Materials Finally Dealt With At Dounreay
Dounreay today completed the destruction of one of the most hazardous legacies of Britain's earliest atomic research. A purpose-built chemical plant processed the last of 57,000 litres of liquid metal lifted from the primary cooling circuit of the experimental fast breeder reactor.2/4/2012
Police - Three Days Of Action Against Uninsured Drivers

Work Begins on Railhead To Support Dounreay Closure
Construction work is underway on a new railhead to support the closure of the redundant nuclear site at Dounreay. The facility at Georgemas Junction on the far north rail line will enable fuel belonging to the UK to be returned to national stocks where it can be used to generate electricity.

Successful culmination of Drugs Operation Asteroid
THE SENTENCING of Louis MacLean earlier this week (26 March 2012) at the High Court in Edinburgh is the culmination of a long term covert drugs investigation by Northern Constabulary, called Operation Asteroid. Louis MacLean was sentenced to four years and nine months for supplying Cocaine.28/3/2012
