Police Scotland can confirm that two men have been charged in relation to two vehicles detected travelling at 131mph on the A9. The two vehicles were seen by road policing officers near Arpafeelie on the Black Isle north of Inverness shortly after 11.15pm on Wednesday, February 20.

Health boards are being supported to drive down the length of time patients wait for procedures through an investment of almost £27 million. This funding is the initial tranche of investment allocated through the £850 million Waiting Times Improvement Plan that aims to substantially and sustainably improve waiting times for outpatient and inpatient appointments and day cases by Spring 2021.
Drugs with a street value of more than £820,000 have been seized throughout the Highlands & Islands during a four week period of enforcement in January and February. Officers have been carrying out targeted activity aimed at removing illegal drugs from the streets - while causing extensive disruption to those intent on trafficking and dealing.
Eight police officers from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) have achieved their HGV Class 2 Cat C driving licences in order to drive an unmarked truck. The officers were trained by the Ryder Truck Driving Academy to operate the CPMG's HGV ‘supercab', which helps identify drivers that are breaking the law.

The price of standard first and second-class stamps will rise by 3p each at the end of March, Royal Mail has announced. From Monday 25 March 2019, the price of a first-class stamp for a standard letter will rise to 70p, and the price of a second-class stamp for a standard letter will go up to 61p.

The Scottish Parliament has approved the 2019-20 Scottish Budget which provides £42.5 billion of investment in Scotland's public services and economy. Local authorities will also be able to increase council tax by up to 4.79% rather than 3%, with the government also committing in principle to introducing a charge on disposable drinks cups - a so-called "latte levy".
