John Erskine has been selected to contest the 2015 general election for the Labour Party in Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross. John was selected on Saturday (3 May 2014) at a meeting of the local Labour Party in Helmsdale.

The Highland Council is seeking to recruit Directors to the Board of High Life Highland (HLH), to provide strategic direction and governance to the company and expert advice and support to its management team in developing and promoting opportunities in culture, learning, sport, leisure, health and wellbeing. Already the market leader in rolling out smart meters for credit customers, British Gas prepares to trial the technology for 'pay as you go' The Energy Minister, Baroness Verma, visits British Gas' Smart Centre and Training Academy in Leeds to meet staff who will deliver the 'pay as you go' smart meters. The technology will allow British Gas Pay As You Go Energy customers to top up on the move from a mobile phone, online, or from home once they've had a smart meter installed British Gas is preparing to start testing innovative new technology this summer which will allow pay-as-you-go customers in future to top up anywhere once they have had a smart meter fitted.
Motorists are set to see further progress being made on the Kessock Bridge as carriageway surfacing works using a state-of-the-art material which started on Sunday 4th May 2014 The £13.2m improvement programme which is about to enter into week 13, - the first day of surfacing took place on Sunday 4th May. The second layer will be put down on Tuesday 6th May.

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is contacting its members to warn them about the scale of reference fraud directed at small businesses. The FSB and BBC1's Fake Britain cooperated on a survey of 1,800 small firms, which found nearly one in five (17%) had discovered candidates with fraudulent references.
