Local Police Bring In More Officers To Caithness And Tain
Northern Constabulary intends to increase the number of police constables in Thurso, Wick and Tain.   Superintendent Ian Arnott, Divisional Commander for Northern Constabulary's North Division said: "Over the last 18 months we have undergone a structural review that has identified a number of savings which the Chief Constable has reinvested in extra officers for our communities.

Council objects to proposed removal of 151 Highland Payphones
The Highland Council is objecting to the removal of 151 of the 192 payphones proposed for removal in the Highlands by BT.   In making its final response to BT, the Council has collated comments from community councils, community and voluntary groups, the police and individual members of the public.

Council Takes Over Control Of Caithness Heat and Power
The Highland Council has agreed to assume control of Caithness Heat and Power Ltd - an innovative wood-fired combined heat and power enterprise, at Pulteneytown, Wick.  The Council has been a major funder of the company since it was set up in December 2004 and has stepped in with decisive action in an attempt to ensure a sustainable future for the pioneering operation.  
Extra Caithness Funding Starts To Make A Difference
Extra funding made available by the Scottish Government to assist the economic regeneration of Caithness, is being spent across a rigorous programme of activities driven by Highlands and Island Enterprise (HIE).   Twelve million pounds of additional funding was promised to the area for commitment to projects between 2007-2010.
