Candidates Announced So Far For General Election for Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross

To date we know of four candidates for the general election to be held on 7th May 2015.
The candidates declared so far are. -
John Erskine - Labour
AlastaIr Graham - Conservative
Paul Monaghan - SNP
John Thurso - Lib Dem

The formal end of the parliamentary session is marked by what is known as 'prorogation'. The House of Commons may decide that it will not prorogue.
Monday 30 March 2015 - Dissolution
Dissolution of Parliament takes place.
Standing as a Candidate
For a candidate's nomination to be valid, the sum of £500 must be deposited with the (Acting) Returning Officer by the
deadline for nominations, 4pm on the 19th working day before the poll (i.e. by 4pm on 9 April 2015). Candidates who poll more than 5% of the total valid votes cast in the constituency will have their deposit returned. Those candidates who have polled less than, or equal to, 5% of the total valid votes cast will lose their deposit.
A proclamation will be made announcing when Parliament will meet after the general election and setting the date of the Queen's Speech at State Opening.
Writs will be issued for elections in the UK's 650 constituencies.
Monday 20 April - Voter registration deadline 2015
Deadline for receiving applications for registration, however we would encourage everyone to register as soon as possible.
Deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April.
Thursday 7 May 2015 - Election day
Polling booths open between 7am and 10pm. Counting of votes will begin when the polls close.

Voter Turnout 61%
The count took place in Assembly Rooms, Wick
The count in 2015 will be in Inverness to make use of automatic counting machines.
