Jobs Go As Travis Perkins In Thurso To Close

Bad news for the north as Travis Perkins announced 165 branches to close throughout the UK.

The Thurso branch of the company will close with the loss of 5 jobs.

The building supply firm will be a major loss to the area and have knock on effects. The company expects a downturn in the construction industry may last for more than one year.

Smaller branches did not have a big enough turn-over to withstand the problems facing he industry.

Although no date for final closure has been agreed the company has stated it will reduce the work force by 2500 employees.
