An Essential Guide to Benefits and Money Advice
29th January 2009
An essential guide to benefits and money advice has been produced by The Highland Council.
The booklet is free and available at Council Service Points and online via the home page of the Council's web site: www.highland.gov.uk.
It is aimed at those who believe they are entitled to benefit; care for or support another person; know of someone who may be entitled to benefit; need assistance and advice with their finances and need advice about energy efficiency.
The guide also provides essential advice and information on other entitlements, such as Council Tax discounts and exemptions, free school meals and concessionary travel.
Anyone requiring more information should contact the Council's Customer Income Maximisation Team on 0845 600 4222 or email: income.maximisation[AT]highland.gov.uk.
Councillor Carolyn Wilson, Chairman of The Highland Council's Resources Committee, said: "Given the current recession and the ongoing need to support people, we have produced this comprehensive guide to benefits and money advice, which includes many useful contact points.
"We hope it will help many more people source the benefits they are entitled to, and support those who need help with money problems or advice on energy bills."
