Council to offer businesses City roundabout sponsorship deals

10th February 2009

Members of The Highland Council's Inverness City Committee have given the final go ahead for a sponsorship scheme of the City's roundabouts.

Five roundabouts within Inverness will soon be advertised by the Council and interested businesses can bid for the right to sponsor the landscaping on each roundabout. Each roundabout has an reserve price set by the Council based on providing the annual cost of maintenance and administration of the scheme.

The roundabouts and their reserve annual sponsorship costs included are:

* Inverness Trunk Link Road at the junction with Inshes Retail Park and Inshes School (£2,500);
* 'Wades Roundabout' where Old Edinburgh Road crosses the Inverness Trunk Link Road (£2,000);
* Inverness Trunk Link Road at the junction with Dores Road (£1,500);
* Leachkin Road (£1,200); and
* South Kessock turning circle (£600).

Chairman of The Highland Council's Inverness City Committee Provost Jimmy Gray said: "This is an excellent opportunity for businesses with interests in the Inverness area to support the local area. The reserve prices set are very competitive and I hope they will attract some keen bidding. All income received from the scheme will be used to provide additional and increased standards of landscaping on the roundabouts."

Final bids from businesses for sponsorship of roundabouts will be considered by the City of Inverness Committee or by Inverness Ward members. Successful bids will also be subject to consultation with the Council's Planning and Development Service.

Businesses who are interested in bidding for the Council's roundabout sponsorship scheme should contact: Debbie Maguire, Inverness City Community Works Manager tel: (01463) 703110.
