Highland Council Rural Towns To Benefit From Additional Grant Funding From The Scottish Government For Insulation Measures

The Scottish Government has approved an increase to grant funding for energy efficiency measures for eligible properties in the following Highland rural towns:

Aviemore

Carrbridge

Fort William

Grantown area

Tain

Thurso

Wick

As a result of this decision the deadline to register interest in the Highlands Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Scheme has been extended to the 16th October 2020.

The scheme is funded by Scottish Government and Energy Company Obligation funding. Offering insulation measures (external wall, cavity wall and loft insulation) and first time central heating to privately owned or private rented properties which meet the eligibility criteria. https://www.highland.gov.uk/downloads/file/20976/eligibility_criteria

In addition, if you own your home or are a private tenant and spend more than 20% of your household income, after living costs, heating your home then you could be eligible for a further increase in funding. Malcolm Macleod, The Highland Council's Executive Chief Officer for Infrastructure and Environment said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for Highland owners and private rented tenants to receive significant grant funding towards the installation cost of energy efficiency measures. I would encourage people to check if they are eligible for this offer which will help reduce fuel bills and support the Council’s long term objective of carbon zero by 2025."
