Workshops To Offer Support For New Businesses

The Business Gateway will be running the first of a series of Business Start Up courses tomorrow (Thursday 30 April 2009) to provide advice to people who are thinking of starting up their own business or who have just started trading.

The free two day workshop, held at Ness Horizons Centre at the Beechwood Park in Inverness, will cover topics including personal and business planning, managing resources, VAT and tax requirements, setting sales targets and marketing.

David Owen Manager of Highland Opportunity who runs Business Gateway on behalf of The Highland Council in the Highlands said: "In these challenging economic times it is more important than ever that people about to set up their own business are fully aware on the skills and best practices needed to launch and run a successful venture. The workshops we will be running will provide a lot of very useful and practical advice. Knowing that professional support is readily available can be just the encouragement people who are thinking about setting up their own business need to o take the next step forward."

The Inverness course will be followed by other courses right across the Highland Council area including Dingwall, Fort William, Portree, Wick, Thurso and Wester Ross.
