Third Caithness Conference will Be In Wick

1st July 2009

The Assembly Rooms in Wick will be the venue for the 3rd Caithness Conference which will take place on 1st October 2009.

The conference will outline the progress being made by the Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership and workshops will be held to help define a vision document and key messages for inward investors.

The Secretary of State for Scotland, the Rt Hon Jim Murphy MP, has accepted an invitation to attend and give a keynote speech at the beginning of the Conference. A number of other speakers have agreed to attend - the final agenda and speakers list will be published shortly.

John Thurso, MP said "The conference aims to look inwards and outwards - it is an AGM for the local community to hear first hand the progress that is being made while businesses from outside the area are welcome to attend to see for themselves the expertise that already exists in the county."

Eann Sinclair of Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership added "It is important that the Partnership continues have opportunities to update everyone on the progress being made. The conference gives the community a chance not only to hear about what is happening, but also to question the key partners on any issues we might be facing."

Full details of the conference will be published, via the CNSRP website, in due course.

The Caithness and North Sutherland Regeneration Partnership was created in 2007 to lead a united effort to move the area's economy away from its dependence on the nuclear industry. The Partnership consists of Scottish Government, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, The Highland Council and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. www.cnsrp.org.uk
