Coronavirus Covid-19 Daily Data For Scotland - 4 February 2021

1,149 new cases of COVID-19 reported.

27,668 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results - 4.9% of these were positive.

53 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

127 people are in intensive care with recently confirmed COVID-19.

1,812 people are in hospital with recently confirmed COVID-19.

694,347 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 9,031 have received their second dose.

Since the start of the outbreak:

6,322 people have died who have tested positive as at 4 February.

8,347 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 31 January.

37% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 56% were in hospitals and 6% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 31 January).

COVID deaths

• As at the 31st of January, there have been a total of 8,347 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.

• Of the total number of deaths registered in week 4 (25 January to 31 January), there were 440 where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. This is a decrease of 12 deaths on the previous week.

• Of deaths involving COVID-19 in the latest week:

o 68% (301 deaths) were aged 75+, and 14% (63 deaths) were aged under 65.

o 48% were male (210 deaths) and 52% female (230 deaths).

o There were 106 deaths in Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board area, 68 in Lanarkshire and 57 in Lothian.

o At council level, the highest number of deaths occurred in Glasgow City (67), North Lanarkshire (40) and City of Edinburgh (40).

o The majority of deaths (68%) occurred in hospitals (301 deaths), with 97 deaths in care homes, 38 at home or in non-institutional settings and 4 in other institutions.
