215* new cases of COVID-19 reported.

17,457* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
1.3% of these were positive.

2 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

3 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

64 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

2,985,557 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 1,575,765 have received their second dose.

in the week ending 9 May, 7 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

7,664 people have died who have tested positive as at 14 May.

10,104 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 9 May.

33% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 60% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 9 May).

Total World Deaths - 3,360,925

It is reported that the official figures for some countries may not be accurate. For Example India where Total Deaths running at over 4000 per day show total as 262,350. However an article in the BMJ suggests he figure may be 25000 per day or even higher. Also Black Fungus may be adding further deaths to people who had Covid. See the BMJ article HERE

South Africa's true number of deaths from covid-19 is more than 133,000, much more than the official figure of 54,968, according to a report by the South African Medical Research Council. The total recorded deaths in the country in the last 12 months number 157,000, and 85 per cent are likely to have been caused by covid-19, the report says.
