Halloween In Caithness - Police Appeal

27th October 2009

HALLOWEEN

Police in Caithness are appealing to the public to remind parents and guardians of children to use discretion this Halloween season.

We want people to be safety conscious at all times but particularly at Halloween when more children are out on our local streets.

It is an individual parental decision whether children should be allowed to Trick or Treat, We would recommend that parents wishing to celebrate Halloween organise Neighbourhood Halloween parties. This allows the children to experience the excitement of Halloween, while remaining indoors where they are warm, dry and with people they know.

Police are ready to tackle antisocial behaviour incidents or crimes. We hope this Halloween to be peaceful and incident free with minimal impact on residents. If residents do not wish callers we would suggest residents display 'Do not Disturb' signs if they do not wish to be visited by trick or treaters this Halloween.

The Police are warning to the few who think Halloween is a time to scare residents and make them feel vulnerable in their homes. This is not acceptable and officers will be doing everything in their power to make sure this does not happen.
