A virtual public exhibition on the forthcoming application for the Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm is now live. You can access the virtual exhibition at: https://openplans.uk/pentland/

The project team will be available for a live question and answer session on the proposals between 12:00 - 14.30 hrs and 18.00 - 20.30 hrs on Tuesday 5 October 2021 via a live chat function in the virtual public exhibition.

About the Project
Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm will be located approximately 6.5 km off the coast of Dounreay, Caithness and will deploy a maximum of ten wind turbines with an installed capacity of up to 100 megawatts (MW).

The innovations and technology trialled in this project will be key to the development of large scale floating offshore wind in Scotland and will create significant opportunities for the local and national economy.

Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm is planned in two stages. A single turbine demonstrator will be deployed utilising an existing consent for the site (construction anticipated in 2023). This will be followed by the array project (totalling no more than 10 turbines on floating structures) which is currently applying for consent (construction anticipated in 2025). When installed, this project will be the largest floating offshore wind project in Scotland. A Scoping Report was submitted to Marine Scotland for the Pentland Floating Offshore Wind Farm in December 2020
