2,363 new cases of COVID-19 reported.

29,419 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
8.7% of these were positive.

1 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends).

54 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

935 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,253,765 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 3,861,899 have received their second dose.

on 8 October, 16 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
in the week ending 3 October, 141 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate
Since the start of the outbreak:

8,773* people have died who have tested positive as at 8 October.

11,134 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 3 October.

31% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 62% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 3 October).

* On 8 October 2021, three previously reported, confirmed COVID-19 deaths have been removed from the cumulative total. In one case, report of earlier specimen date was identified, which resulted in a difference of more than 28 days between the first COVID-19 PCR positive test result and the individual's date of death. Public Health Scotland are investigating the other two to confirm that these are also due to deaths no longer meeting case definition.

957 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 64 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 12 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 4 October, 484 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 7 October, 51 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

21,846 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 6 October, 1,505 people were delayed in hospital.
