Scotland Excel welcomes the invitation from ESP to speak at Scotland's Contribution to COP26: A Joined Up Just Transition online event on 26 October. The conference session highlights the collaborative engagement across the sector to tackle climate change and achieve net zero carbon emissions. The event will also address the importance of empowering young people and upskill experienced workers with the skills needed to embed a circular economy and deliver sustainable economic growth.

Contract manager Kelly Nugent will speak about our second-generation framework for Energy Efficiency Contractors which was developed with significant collaboration across the public sector and with the supply chain.

Set to commence early in 2022, this framework will be a fundamental enabler for our members to attain net-zero by 2045 and has social and environmental objectives at its core; to tackle fuel poverty, reduce carbon emissions and support a green recovery.

The framework is structured to provide an efficient route to market and accommodates a wide range of energy efficiency measures with its expanded scope. This will enable full house retrofit of existing housing stock and for the first time includes a professional services lot in support of a one-stop-shop.

In recognition of the demand for energy efficiency measures to be delivered, once awarded, Scotland Excel will continue to work in partnership with the Scottish Government, ESP, our members and contractors to build a quality workforce that will support Scotland's transition to net zero.

John Renwick, sector manager for construction at ESP, said: "Through our work with Scottish Government, we have worked with SSC's, colleges and industry to develop the installers' skills matrix in support of the Energy Efficiency Scotland route map. It identified a significant gap in training provision across renewable and energy efficiency technologies and will inevitably improve the quality of skills within this sector.

"The Scottish Government's ambitions place a great deal of momentum behind the energy sector, with colleges playing a crucial and pivotal role in moving forward the skills required to achieve the Government's Net Zero carbon emissions targets. We are delighted to work with Scotland Excel to support its drive through procurement for quality in their supply chain."
