Platinum Jubilee Public Holiday On 3 June 2021 Agreed By Highland Council

29th October 2021

An additional public holiday on Friday 3 June 2022 has been approved at a meeting of The Highland Council.

The additional public holiday is to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and 70 years on the throne in line with UK Government arrangements.

There will be no change to the Council's existing public holidays.

Highland Council offices and schools will be closed with minimal service provision on 3 June 2021 such as emergency services and waste.

A request will be made to the Scottish Government for the Council to reduce the number of teaching days to accommodate the additional public holiday.

Bank holidays
Bank holidays are the same across Scotland. If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a 'substitute' weekday becomes a bank holiday. This would normally be the Monday after the original date.

Your employer does not have to give you paid leave on bank or public holidays. Check your employment contract for what days your employer agreed you could take.

Bank holidays might affect how and when your benefits are paid. If the payment of benefits date is on a bank holiday, they will normally be paid on the day before the bank holiday.
