3,867* new cases of COVID-19 reported.

43,735* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
9.6% of these were positive.

20 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

65 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

926 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19

4,315,802 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination and 3,905,177 have received their second dose.

*Please note that today's testing and case numbers are still affected by a data flow issue at the Glasgow Lighthouse laboratory. The situation has been resolved but the backlog of results has impacted on newly reported cases and tests over the last couple of days and today.

in the week ending 24 October, 130 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

9,143 people have died who have tested positive as at 29 October.

11,538 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 24 October.

30% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 63% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 24 October).

NHS and Home Care Staff
in the week ending 26 October, on average 1,838 NHS staff, or around 1.0% of the NHS workforce, reported absent each day for a range of reasons related to COVID-19

as at 26 October, 449 staff in adult care homes (including adult and older people care homes) were reported as absent due to COVID-19, based on returns received from 728 (68%) adult care homes. Staff absent due to COVID-19 represents 1.2% of all adult care home staff (36,331) for whom a return was provided.

we have been notified by Health Boards or the Care Inspectorate of 26 deaths of healthcare workers and 32 deaths of social care workers, related to COVID-19, since the start of the pandemic. We are not able to confirm how many of these staff contracted COVID-19 through their work.
