57,764 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results*
9.3% of these were positive.

19 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

40 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

573 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,359,959 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 3,969,494 have received their second dose, and 2,040,070 have received a third dose or booster.

*There has been a higher number of tests received in the last 24 hours as labs begin to address the turnaround time between specimens being taken and results being received and reported.

on 10 December, 19 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

in the week ending 5 December, 88 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

9,707 people have died who have tested positive as at 10 December.

12,216 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 5 December.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 5 December).

573 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 40 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 12 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 6 December, 362 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 9 December, 23 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

25,817 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 8 December, 1,453 people were delayed in hospital.
