4,336 new cases of COVID-19 reported*.

47,082 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results*
10.1% of these were positive.

7 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

33 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

522 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,367,798 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 3,986,305 have received their second dose, and 2,377,170 have received a third dose or booster.

* Public Health Scotland have made us aware that due to a larger volume of tests being processed, the turnaround time for test results has been impacted, meaning the number of tests being reported on today may be lower than expected.

on 17 December, 7 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

in the week ending 12 December, 84 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

9,771people have died who have tested positive as at 17 December.

12,303 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 12 December.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 12 December).

522 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 33 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 15 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 13 December, 400 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 16 December, 30 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

26,183 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 15 December, 1,464 people were delayed in hospital.
