37 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

515 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,373,917 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 3,997,192 have received their second dose, and 2,630,615 have received a third dose or booster.

* Public Health Scotland note there continues to be an impact on turnaround times between specimens being taken and results reported, due to larger volumes of tests being processed by labs.

Since the start of the outbreak:

9,790 people have died who have tested positive as at 21 December.

12,303 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 12 December.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 12 December).

515 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 37 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 14 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 17 December, 365 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 20 December, 26 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

26,387 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 15 December, 1,464 people were delayed in hospital.
