52,022 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results*

11 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

40 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19

536 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,375,588 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,000,171 have received their second dose, and 2,708,761 have received a third dose or booster.

* Public Health Scotland (PHS) are aware that today's reported positive case numbers are lower than expected. PHS are investigating this, and will provide updates in future reports.

On 22 December, 11 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

In the week ending 19 December, 68 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

9,801 people have died who have tested positive as at 22 December.

12,372 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 19 December.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 19 December).

536 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 40 were in intensive care.

In addition, yesterday 12 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

In the week ending 18 December, 388 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

In the week ending 21 December, 30 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

26,439 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

As at 15 December, 1,464 people were delayed in hospital.
