16,857 new cases of COVID-19 reported*.

71,612 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results*
27.1% of these were positive.

9 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive.

34 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

810 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,381,226 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,012,490 have received their second dose, and 2,944,977 have received a third dose or booster.

*Public Health Scotland are continuing to see improvements in turnaround times, and are continuing to monitor the situation. There continues to be large volumes of tests being processed by labs; this and the festive period have impacted turnaround times resulting in delays between specimens being taken and results being received and reported.

in the week ending 19 December, 68 deaths were registered where COVID-19 was on the death certificate.

Since the start of the outbreak:

9,845 people have died who have tested positive as at 30 December.

12,372 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 19 December.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 64% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 19 December).

810 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 34 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 15 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 24 December, 479 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 29 December, 37 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

26,950 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 29 December, 1,428 people were delayed in hospital.
