Highland Council Winter Road Condition Report For Friday 18 February 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Friday 18 February are as follows:

Badenoch and Strathspey: Posted at 08:22 - Frost and snow on all roads so routes are being treated as necessary.

Caithness: Posted at 08:14 - All routes are affected by ice and frozen slush with patches of black ice on some roads too. Treatment is on-going.

Inverness: Posted at 06:43 - A dry morning with damp roads and cold road surface temperatures all over the area. Snow forecasted for this morning and continuing into afternoon. Covering all routes and footpaths. No known issues

Lochaber: Posted at 07:14 - Low Road surface temperatures and it started to snow across whole area from 6am. There is a covering of snow on high ground. All routes are being treated by priority. No know issues.

Nairn: Posted at 08:24 - Ice this morning with some snow patches so routes are being treated as necessary.

Ross and Cromarty: Posted at 08:09 - All primary routes have a mixture of dry and damp conditions with icy patches. Secondary and higher routes much the same, with a slight dusting of snow at highest points. Treatment ongoing. No reported overnight issues.

Skye and Raasay: Posted at 08:21 - Precautionary treatment is ongoing on primary and secondary routes in advance of forecast snow this morning. All routes reported as being clear with no issues.

Sutherland: Posted at 08:29 - All primary route roads have a mixture of dry and damp conditions with icy patches. Higher routes have more icy stretches on them.

Wester Ross & Lochalsh: Posted at 07:32 - A relatively dry frosty morning in Ward 5. All routes getting treated. No overnight reported issues.

As at 9:15am today Grantown Primary and Grantown Nursery are closed due to winter weather.
