Marie Curie Cancer - Back To The Shop Floor Appeal.

Dear Editor,

I will be spending 24 March 2006 working in the post room. I am doing this because my staff has pulled together and are sponsoring me to spend the day sorting through their letters and packages. I will need to roll up my sleeves and get on with my postal duties in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care's brand new initiative, Back to the Shop Floor.

As a supporter of Marie Curie Cancer Care, I am calling on you senior staff across the UK to take part in this fundraising initiative and to spend the day doing a job you don't normally do. You could work behind a till, be the tea girl or the post man... the opportunities are endless. It is a great way to interact with staff that you may not normally deal with and to raise important funds for Marie Curie Nurses. Sponsorship money raised from this event will help the charity's annual Great Daffodil Appeal reach its target of £4million.

The Great Daffodil Appeal aims to raise as much money as possible to continue providing its vital services within the community. Every night, Marie Curie Nurses care for cancer patients in their own homes, enabling people to spend their last days in familiar surroundings, with their families, friends and pets.

The kind hearted managers who get behind Back to the Shop Floor on 24 March are supporting the vital work of Marie Curie Nurses. Last year the charity nursed more than 18, 000 people with cancer in their own homes...but unfortunately there is an ever increasing demand for their services and in 2006 they want to care for even more people, giving them the opportunity to live out their days with those they love around them.

If you are interested in taking part in the Back to the Shop Floor initiative or putting your boss forward to get involved this March, please visit http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/backtoshopfloor or call 0800 716 146.

Thank you in advance for supporting this noble cause.

Sir Digby Jones
