5,364* new cases of COVID-19 reported.

0 new reported deaths of people who have tested positive (noting that Register Offices are generally closed at weekends).

23 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

2,372 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19.

4,362,070 people have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccination, 4,095,356 have received their second dose, and have 3,455,128 received a third dose or booster.

*Please note that Public Health Scotland (PHS) have identified that there is a data flow issue from the Scottish Government Lateral Flow Device (LFD) portal, resulting in lower than usual numbers of LFD tests and cases since Friday 1 April

Future of COVID-19 Data Reporting
Following the publication of Scotland's Strategic Framework update in February 2022 we are now planning to move to a single main source of headline COVID-19 data. From mid-April 2022, all headline COVID-19 data can be sourced from Public Health Scotland's (PHS) COVID-19 Daily Dashboard. We will no longer provide updates to the figures on this webpage but will instead clearly signpost to the range of COVID-19 data published - including headline data on COVID-19 cases, hospitalisations, deaths and vaccinations published on the PHS dashboard as well as to other sources of data reported elsewhere.

Since the start of the outbreak:

11,507 people have died who have tested positive as at 4 April.

13,885 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to 27 March.

29% of COVID-19 registered deaths related to deaths in care homes, 63% were in hospitals and 7% were at home or non-institutional settings (as at 27 March)

2,372 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19; of these, 23 were in intensive care.

in addition, yesterday 6 confirmed COVID-19 patients were in intensive care longer than 28 days.

in the week ending 29 March, 1,288 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to hospital.

in the week ending 3 April, 28 patients with confirmed COVID-19 were admitted to intensive care.

38,680 inpatients who tested positive for COVID-19 have been discharged from hospital since 5 March 2020.

as at 30 March, 1,683 people were delayed in hospital.
