National Records for Scotland show that covid is still causing deaths and that the disease continues to infect more people.

Scottish Government has decided not to enforce things like mask wearing but recommends people take al the precautions that were previously in force to protect themselves. The incidence of the virus is now at the highest level since the pandemic began.

As of 26th June 2022, there have been a total of 14,953 deaths registered in Scotland where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was mentioned on the death certificate.

In week 25 there were 51 deaths involving COVID-19 (10 more than the previous week).

The provisional total number of all deaths registered in Scotland in week 25 of 2022 (20th to 26th June) was 1,120 (95 or 9% above the 5-year average).

This weekly spreadsheet includes breakdowns by sex, age, health board, local authority and location of death. It also includes an analysis of excess deaths by location and broad cause of death.

In addition, we publish a comprehensive and detailed analysis of mortality on a monthly basis. This report includes analysis of deaths occurring in the previous month, and looks at age-standardised death rates, breakdown by deprivation, urban/rural, an analysis of leading causes of death and a breakdown by main pre-existing condition of those who died with COVID-19.
