“The new season lambs again met a firm enquiry and would be dearer on the week with more weight being around than of late cashing in at 40 pence per kg dearer than the same week last year. The hogg season is finally drawing to a close numbers wise and yet the price still gives us that buzz and excitement we all associate with ‘hogg season!' Meat met a firm enquiry and many more could have been sold.
Another decent number of ewes were forward for this centre at this time of year. It was a story of two halves as the majority of the entries consisted of lean hill ewes which although meeting a firm enquiry hindered the overall average. The second half that stole the show in the north, despite Duran Duran and Andrea Bocelli ‘gigging’ it in Inverness, were Texel ewes from Wester Moy and Strathroy which topped the sale at £252 and £250 respectively. ”
