Energy Support Programme - a new support programme from the North Highland Initiative

4th August 2022

The North Highland Initiative ("NHI") was established in 2005 as a direct result of His Royal Highness the Duke of Rothesay's involvement in bringing together the farming community, local businesses, and the tourism sector to support the people and businesses of the North Highlands.

NHI operates across the three counties of Caithness, Sutherland, Ross & Cromarty, and our goals remain the same today. Our programmes help grow and champion the potential of our natural resources and talent to encourage economic stability and build diverse resilient communities.

The Energy Support Programme is a natural addition to our Community Support Programme that has distributed almost £200K of small grants to over 120 community led projects in the last two years.

The ESP is aimed at helping our communities meet the current, and still developing, energy and cost of living crisis. We recognise that many community and voluntary groups will, amongst other things, be facing increased charges to run or hire meeting spaces, deliver food larders or meal services. These services are vital to keep our communities vibrant, to sustain our young, elderly, or vulnerable, and to support well-being programmes and combat loneliness.

The form is simple to fill in, the decision making will be swift and grants of up to £1000 are available to a wide variety of groups and services. Please distribute this information to any groups or services you think may need our help.

The Community Support Programme is also still live and details for both these grant funding programmes can also be found on our website using this link Infrastructure Support Programme (CISP) — North Highland Initiative

Finally, please let us know if NHI can support your community in any way or you have ideas that you would like to share.
