Rhoda Grant MSP Highlights lack of firefighter cover across Highlands and Islands - Caithness In Danger From Very Low cover

Commenting on reports that large parts of the Highlands and Islands have experienced no firefighter cover on multiple dates, Highlands and Islands Labour MSP Rhoda Grant has today submitted a Written Parliamentary Question to the Scottish Government on the issue.

The regional MSP has asked the Scottish Government, following these reports, what will be done to resolve personnel shortages.

She has also written to the Fire and Rescue Service asking for their response to these reports and if they believe this will occur again.

Rhoda Grant said: "To see a large proportion of the Highlands and Islands not covered by Firefighter cover is terrifying.

"Rural communities feel isolated enough and this is a further example of urban approaches not working in rural areas and I wish to see it addressed urgently."
