Highland Council Winter Road Condition Report For Tuesday 6 December 2022

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

Road condition reports for Tuesday 6 December 2022 are as follows:



Badenoch and Strathspey

Posted 07:13 - There are damp and dry roads throughout the area with temperatures warmer than forecast. All routes receiving winter treatment as a precaution for the weather which is expected later on today.



Caithness

Posted 08:14 - Road temperatures are higher than forecast. There is no action required and no known overnight issues reported.



Inverness

Posted 06:08 – Roads in Inverness are wet, and no known problems reported.



Lochaber

Posted 08:42 - Low temperatures overnight with higher than forecast temperatures this morning. All routes have received winter treatment.



Nairn

Posted 07:12 – There are damp roads throughout the area. Temperatures are higher than forecast. All routes being treated as a precaution for the weather expected later today.



Ross and Cromarty (East)

Posted 07:25 – Roads are wet with above temperatures across the network. All routes being treated in preparation for negative temps and snow forecast.



Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh

Posted 06:09 – Roads throughout the area range from damp to dry. No known overnight issues reported.



Skye and Raasay

Posted 08:37 - No planned action in North Skye this morning but Primary routes have been treated in the South. Road temperatures are higher than forecast.



Sutherland

Posted 09:37 – Temperatures are higher than forecast. All Primary routes have been treated as necessary.



The UK Met Office has a Yellow weather warning in place tomorrow for snow for much of the Highland region.

As of 09:00 this morning there are no school closures because of bad weather conditions.

The school closures page on the Council’s website at: www.highland.gov.uk/schoolclosures is updated from 7am and cleared each evening by 6pm.
